The urli's body unfolds as a single continuous procession — chariots drawn by rearing horses, warriors in full regalia, and courtly figures rendered in deep hand-chased relief, all set against a ground of fine scrollwork.
It is the base, however, that distinguishes this urli from ornament alone. Three Kinnara — beings of Burmese myth, half-avian and half-divine, long regarded as guardians of grace and devotion — stand as the vessel's sole support, cast separately and attached by hand beneath the bowl. Their form is unusual within Burmese silverwork of this scale: figures conceived to bear real, physical weight, not merely to decorate a surface.
This pairing carries its own quiet logic. Above, a procession of worldly power — chariots, warriors, courtly figures. Below, three guardians drawn from myth, holding that entire world aloft. The urli does not simply rest; it is borne, and borne specifically by beings whose role, in tradition, was always to protect what they carried.
