THE STORY- Rising over the crown of the bell is the Raas Leela- Krishna and Radha in the centre of circling dance, the gopis turning around them beneath moonlit trees, the whole scene raised in silver relief across the dome. At the very top where the bell meets its chain, two peacocks stand with tails folded into hooks, forming the fittings from which the bell is hung-- Krishna's companion bird set, quite literally, at the point where the piece is lifted skyward.
The Raas Amrit Bell is rung to open and close moments of prayer- its clear, resonant tone marking the beginning of an aarti, the offering of a thali, or the quiet start of a meditation practice, Beyond ritual, its sound is used to clear a room of stagnant energy before guests arrive, or to call a household together at dusk.
